Your Child's Bright Future

Our Mission

Hand In Hand Day School & Preschool assists in helping children to acquire a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills needed for school success. We believe an effective preschool environment is a place where children feel well cared for and safe. Our preschool is a place where children are valued as individuals and where their need for attention, approval, and affection are supported. In this environment, children can discover the world that surrounds them and develop the capacity to connect with others.

We want you to feel that you are a part of your child's life here and to understand more about what we do every day. In our program, we incorporate Mother Goose Time Curriculum, About God, The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, beginner Spanish and French, ASL Program. The philosophy is that children should be allowed to grow "at their own pace", and to learn in ways that help them become confident in themselves as learners.

Our curriculum has two goals:

  • To help children learn about themselves and the world around them
  • To encourage children to feel good about themselves and capable as learners

The Preschool classroom has been arranged to make it a safe place for children to explore and to learn. Children's toys and materials are placed on low shelves and in low, easy-to-open drawers. This makes it easy for children to select the items that they enjoy. It also helps them learn how to make choices and be independent. All children have a place to keep their personal belongings such as coats, blankets, and school work to bring home. This lets them know they are a valued part of our classroom community.

When you visit, you will notice that we have a schedule that we follow. This lets the children know what comes when. It also helps them feel secure when they have some routine to their day. The schedule also allows for the times when we all do things together, such as Circle Time and Story Time, and times when the children are doing things on their own, such as coloring or writing and playing in the Learning Centers.

We plan many activities for the children to assist in the development of these goals.

We build with blocks, dress up and make-believe, put puzzles together, read books, tell stories, play with sand and water, draw and paint, cook, dance to music, and play outdoors. All of these activities are aimed at helping the children to do things on their own and to be curious and interested in all that's going on around them. We talk with them, ask questions, and answer their questions to help them learn new words and to express their ideas and feelings. Daily Walks, Outdoor play and Regularly Scheduled days, Field Trips, and Nutritious Meals & Snacks to enhance the daycare/ preschool curriculum we offer to your child.

One of the greatest gifts you can offer your child is Self-reliance and responsibility; while you guide and assist them in their independence, rather than doing it for them. We all have very busy lives and it’s always much easier for us if we just do it all. In this your child misses a large part of their learning steps in life and development. Our program hears so much from School Teachers and Services Professionals that there is an overwhelming number of children now requiring speech, OT and PT due to children not being allowed to develop naturally by these key steps. In our program we encourage these skills as well as assist with these steps at home.

Our Program philosophy completely revolves around the children themselves and giving them the positive reinforcement to help them toward an exciting and encouraging education in the future. Socialization, Independence, Love of Learning and Love of Self/others is so important and that is why we are here.

“This this truly is an environment where Love and Laughter and Faith go Hand in Hand with Learning and Fun”!
